I've written about GlimmerBlocker once before. In essence, GlimmerBlocker is an easily-setup adblocking, content modifying proxy. While, by default, it only works in Safari, it is quite easy to setup FireFox to use GlimmerBlocker. Here's how:
Step 1: Open FireFox and go to its preferences. (Cmd-,)
Step 2: Go to the "Advanced" preferences and click on the "Network" tab.
Step 3: Click on the "Settings…" button for "Connection".
Step 4: Click on the "Manual proxy configuration:" radio button.
Step 5: Set the HTTP Proxy to "127.0.0.1" and the port to "8228".
Step 6: Check the box for "Use this proxy server for all protocols".
Step 7: Hit the Okay button and close the preferences window. Your changes should be reflected immediately.
