Do you want to control iTunes while having a different application? Well, this is pretty easy to do using the Miniplayer and the proper settings.
Step 1: Go to the iTunes Preferences. (Cmd-,)
Step 2: Go to the advanced section.
Step 3: At the bottom of the advanced section, there is an option to have the MiniPlayer float above other applications. Check this box.
Hit return or the OK button and you're good to go. Shrink the iTunes window to the MiniPlayer and it should stay on top of everything else!

my FAVORITE iTunes controller is SizzlingKeys (freeware). I don't need a floater, I can pause, next track, previous track, control volume, mute and more. Works in any application. On a new Mac, after I install Quicksilver, I install SizzlingKeys. the best. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22459
(IMHO - this application deserves it's own MacTipper post.)
On that note, I use Spark to control my iTunes. Spark is similar to QuickSilver and is the first app I install on any computer.
I'll check out SizzlingKeys. Thanks for the recommendation.
While it isn't free, I've been using CoverSutra for almost a year now, and it's worth every penny. One of those apps that just makes being a mac owner fun.
