A lot of people like twitter. Some people have written applescripts [1] [2] that will tweet your current iTunes track. Both of these have their own little problems. So, I wrote my own applescript to do this.
(I do not use twitter. However, I have hopefully written a really helpful applescript application for other people.)
The applescript is really easy to use. Simply open it up and let it stay open. When you first launch it, you will be prompted for a number. This number is for how often the applescript should "ping" iTunes. So, if you set it to 20, then the applescript will ask iTunes every 20 seconds what the current song is.
If the current song isn't what the current song was the last time the applescript asked, then it will ask you if you want to tweet about the current song you're listening to. If you say that you do, then the applescript will tell you once it's been tweeted.

If iTunes isn't running, then the applescript will prompt you to either launch iTunes, quit the applescript, or just ignore that iTunes isn't running.
If, while running the script, you are asked if you want to allow access to your keychain, this is normal. Simply click on the always allow button or the allow button (if the always allow button isn't available.)

If you run into some strange error involving the keychain, then you probably need to log into Twtter.com from Safari.
Finally, there are two versions of the applescript. The first version runs like any normal application. You'll see it in the dock and in the Cmd-Tab switcher. The other version runs in the background and doesn't show up in either the dock or the Cmd-Tab switcher.
You can either download each individually or both at the same time.
Download the Normal Version
Download the Background Version
Download Both Versions
