A great tip for Quicktime or DVD player that I didn't know about until recently is that you can scroll to navigate a video. This is great if you want to be specific and stop at an exact frame, or, if you want to skim the movie looking for a specific scene. To scroll through the movie, simply hold your cursor over the window and scroll. If you're selecting a portion of the movie in Quicktime, holding Shift while scrolling will move the selection marker with the frame marker. However, if you're using a scroll wheel, holding shift will reverse the direction you need to spin the scroll wheel.
