For me, switching between views in a finder window has always been a pain. Moving the mouse to the buttons in the window. There HAS to be a shortcut! Well, being really stupid, it never occurred to me to look in the "View" menu of finder. Well, there is a shortcut. Cmd-1 for icons, Cmd-2 for list and Cmd-3 for columns. This would be a pretty bad tip except for the discovery that this also works in Save/Open dialogs where the options exist.

Alot better than the mouse, but is there a way to keep the icons as large as they are in CMD-1 in CMD-2 and 3, but still retain their size?
I'm somewhat confused as to what you want. Do you want the icons in Cmd-2 and Cmd-3 to be the same size as the icons in Cmd-1? Or, the icons in Cmd-1 to be the same size as the icons in Cmd-2/3?

@mactipper: Great tip! I really like some of the stuff i've been seeing on your blog.
@anonymous: the best way to do this is to Control-Click in the Finder window while in "Cmd-2" or "Cmd-3" view and select "Show View Options." When in "Cmd-2" view, you can make both the font and icon bigger, and in "Cmd-3" view, you can make both grow simultaneously by changing the font size. I hope that helped!
@ Omer
Thanks for pointing that out! I'll have to use it as a tip sometime!
