If you’ve ever found any great movies on YouTube (like this one) and thought, “Hey, that’s a really great movie! I wish I could put it on my video iPod!” then this is a great tip. Or, if you’ve thought, “I want to study every frame of that great movie, I wish I could download it!” Then this is also a great tip. So, let’s get started....
To do this tip you need to use safari. Sorry FireFox fans. Also, you will need the application iSquint. (Don’t worry it’s free!) (Direct Download)
Step 1: Go to the YouTube movie you enjoy. (If you want to practice, you have permission to use this one)
Step 2: Go to the Window Menu>Activity (Keyboard shortcut: Cmd-Option-A) Edit: Or, you can go to keepvid.com and paste the link into the text box. Then press "Submit" and click the download link.
Step 3: Assuming that the movie is not fully loaded you need to find a file that is still loading but, it is big (it should be at least a MegaByte (MB). If you have multiple windows, find that tab that says something to the extent of: “24 of 25 Files Loaded” or something like that.
Step 4: Double click on the file in step 3. This should open up the Downloads window.
Step 5: Wait for it to download.
Step 6: When it has downloaded find the file you just downloaded and rename it to the title of the movie.
Step 7: Launch iSquint. and drag the file to the main window.
Step 8: Select the options you want (Optimize for TV would be suggested if you’re going to watch it on your computer. Otherwise, optimize for iPod)
Step 9: Click “Add To iTunes”
Step 10: Click “Start” and wait for it to finish. When it’s done it will launch iTunes.
Step 11: Update the info in iTunes
Step 12: Watch the movie/sync it with your iPod!
Note: Use this information wisely. Don’t download stuff you don’t have permission to download and don’t edit other peoples movies! You have permissions to download, but not edit my movies.
Thanks to Stacy for pointing out KeepVids.com.

Or you could use keepvid.com! :)
That's a wonderful point! I've edited the post to include that.
DownloadHelper (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006) , an extension for Firefox works very well. I use it to download the flv file (via a very convenient menu), and then convert it with iSquint the same way.
thanks man! i was lookin for some help to get youtube videos to my macbook, and u did it perfetly!
great article, here is another free YouTube downloader site
http://downloadandsaveyoutubevideos.info/
... but i can't add the mp4 file into itunes :(
You might want to drag the files to itunes in the dock while holding Cmd-Option. You also might want to try opening up the MP4s in QuickTime and exporting them to Apple TV/iPod format.
Thanks my friend :)
